SalamanderSoft is an official Capita Partner and as such only accesses Sims through approved methods, namely the Sims Business Objects. This means that Sims workstation must be installed on the machine on which you wish to install Salamander.
Salamander logs into Sims using a standard Sims login which you choose during installation. Hence you can use the standard Sims System Manager to set permissions for this user so that you can be sure that Salamander can only access data which you want it to access.
The actual data which Salamander extracts is comes from standard Sims reports which are installed as part of the installation process. You can see exactly what data is going to be retrieved through the standard Sims reporting functions and change it at any time.
SalamanderSoft is also an official Serco Facility Partner giving us access to the vary latest versions of Facility CMIS. The data is accessed using Serco approved methods with extension points so that the extraction so be tailored exactly to your school's need - e.g. one school has a couple of user defined fields extracted and populated in Active Directory.
