East Bridgford Wildlife & Biodiversity Strategy

The important issues of wildlife and biodiversity, especially their conservation and enhancement are not addressed in detail in the Parish Plan, although there is an indication that residents prefer the character of the village and parish as they are, especially the field landscapes, footpaths and mature trees.

The Parish Plan and Village Design Statement both refer to the importance of semi-natural features and the need to incorporate these into a strategy for the conservation of wildlife areas and their biodiversity.

The wildlife and biodiversity of East Bridgford are associated with the diversity of landscape forms and uses, in particular, grassland, scrubland, wetland, woodland, farmland and the village envelope.

These are expressed in a variety of landscape types, including, meadows and pasture, arable fields, flood meadows, ponds and river, escarpment, green ways and footpaths, gardens, hedgerows and verges.

The range of wildlife in the parish is considerable with potential for nature conservation.
